Know when AI images must be disclosed before you upload them

Disclosure is required for new uploads and isn't required retroactively, though the moderator suggests updating older images when you edit those listings.

Check these listing images before I upload them: [attach].
For each, tell me: does it contain photorealistic AI-generated people (faces, bodies, hands)? If yes, remind me to tick 'AI-generated people' in A+ Content.
For the main image: is the background pure white, does the product fill at least 85% of the frame, and is the longest side at least 1600px? Flag anything that doesn't accurately show the real product.

What they did

A seller asked on the Amazon Seller Forums which rules apply to AI-made listing images in 2026. An Amazon forum moderator (TaylorR_Amazon) answered: simple AI retouching like background removal, color correction and lighting is treated like normal photo editing, as long as the image accurately shows the product. Images with photorealistic AI-generated people (full bodies, faces, hands) must be disclosed, using the 'AI-generated' and 'AI-generated people' checkboxes when uploading through A+ Content.

How it went

Disclosure is required for new uploads and isn't required retroactively, though the moderator suggests updating older images when you edit those listings. The moderator says the standard rules still apply: pure white main image background, product filling at least 85% of the frame, at least 500px on the longest side (1600px+ recommended for zoom), in JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF or WEBP.

We only report what the source says. Results are self-reported unless noted.
