Turning Return Photos into Reimbursement Case Details with a Claude Bot
Read the LPN sticker and return slip from photos and draft the reimbursement case details
It works, and filing the cases now takes a few minutes a month.

Copy-paste prompt
Here are photos of a returned unit, its LPN sticker and the return slip [attach]. Extract: Return Shipment ID (the part between the first and second dash after 'RA #'), LPN, Removal Order ID, FNSKU (in the column labelled ASIN). Then write one line for Condition from what the photo shows, e.g. 'Returned missing all of the hardware needed to install the product.' Flag any character you're not sure of (l vs I, 0 vs O).
The source didn't publish its exact prompt. We wrote this starter so you can try the same workflow. Replace anything in [brackets].
What they did
Alex Willen has returns of his indoor swing shipped back to him, because Amazon once restocked a return that was really a blue bedsheet. To get reimbursed for wrong or incomplete returns he must quote the return shipment ID, LPN, removal order ID and FNSKU from a tiny return slip. He added a feature to his Telegram/email bot: he sends photos of the product, the LPN sticker and the slip, and Claude reads the IDs, writes the condition line, and emails him the case text with the photos attached. The removal order ID is checked against a daily pull of real IDs, with a fuzzy match, and the FNSKU against his brand's list.
How it went
It works, and filing the cases now takes a few minutes a month. He still opens the case himself because Amazon has no API for support cases, and he decided against automating it in the browser.
We only report what the source says. Results are self-reported unless noted.
Worth knowing
Only the photo reading and the condition text use Claude; the rest is ordinary code. Small-font IDs with lookalike characters (l and I) were misread a couple of times in testing, which is why the validation step exists.
