A Claude PPC Overhaul That Sank ROAS (Cautionary)
Learn what goes wrong when you restructure live campaigns on an AI's advice
“out of a $100 budget they were 'barely selling $100'”

Copy-paste prompt
Before you recommend any change to my Amazon campaigns, tell me: what in this data supports it, what could go wrong, and how I'd know within 14 days whether it worked. Recommend at most 2 changes at a time, never touch my top-selling SKUs' existing campaigns, and remind me of the baseline numbers so I can roll back.

What they did
A seller whose Amazon ads were returning 3.5 to 4x ROAS asked Claude to analyze the campaigns, then followed its plan: moving the two best-selling SKUs out of existing campaigns into their own, and changing keywords. They pulled data from Helium 10 for it and pasted new data into Claude every three to four days for a month.
How it went
After a month, they say their 'ppc, keyword ranks, campaigns, everything is upside down': out of a $100 budget they were 'barely selling $100'. Each round of fixes made it worse, and they have 'literally tens of chats' where Claude says 'ooops, my bad, i missed that'.

Worth knowing
One seller's account, with no screenshots. Replies point to the cause: everything changed at once, so there was no way to tell what broke it, and the AI kept reacting to noisy data. If you test AI advice, change one thing at a time and keep the old structure to compare against.
